Installation guide

Technical installation requirements for MCS-certified heating engineers. Full installation manual available in the documentation section below.

System requirements

  • Closed wet heating system (hydronic)
  • Minimum flow rate: consult datasheet
  • Buffer tank recommended for systems < 20 litres water volume
  • Expansion vessel and safety valve required on flow circuit
  • Suitable for underfloor heating and low-temperature radiators

Electrical supply

  • 230 V / single phase
  • Dedicated MCB recommended, check datasheet for current draw
  • Earth bonding required per BS 7671
  • Smart meter / time-of-use tariff compatible
  • Wired controller or Wi-Fi app control included

Siting & clearances

  • Outdoor unit on wall bracket or ground slab
  • Minimum 300 mm clearance front, 150 mm sides
  • Keep clear of openable windows/doors, see planning notes
  • Permitted Development: ≤ 42 dB(A) at 1 m from neighbour
  • Not suitable for installation in a fully enclosed space

Hot water cylinder

  • Requires an indirect unvented cylinder if replacing a combi boiler
  • Recommended cylinder size: 180–250 litres (depending on occupancy)
  • Immersion heater backup recommended
  • Cylinder stat set to 50–55 °C for normal operation
  • Legionella prevention cycle: 60 °C, once per week

Refrigerant

  • R32, GWP 675 (low compared to R410A at 2,088)
  • Factory charged, field refrigerant work requires F-Gas certification
  • Refrigerant circuit sealed; do not open without certification
  • Outdoor unit contains flammable refrigerant, follow handling guidance
  • Leak detection sensor recommended in enclosed plant rooms

MCS & compliance

  • MCS product-listed, qualifies for Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant
  • Installation must be completed by an MCS-accredited contractor
  • MCS certificate issued post-installation for grant redemption
  • Commissioning log required, forms supplied with unit
  • Building regulations notification may be required (Part L)
